Our Services
Comprehensive Risk Assessments
We conduct detailed risk assessments to identify workplace health hazards, including chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic risks. Our assessments provide clear insights into the specific dangers within your environment and outline the necessary steps to mitigate them.
Hazard Control Strategies

Control Effectiveness and Efficiency Monitoring
Once controls are implemented, we monitor their performance over time to ensure they continue to deliver measurable reductions in risk. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems, physical barriers, and other control measures to ensure they function as intended and provide ongoing protection.
Emissions-Based Maintenance Programs at part of DEE (incl. DPM) control
We implement emissions-based maintenance programs that go beyond traditional maintenance approaches. These programs are designed to continuously monitor and control diesel engine emissions, ensuring that machinery and ventilation systems operate at peak efficiency. This proactive approach minimizes risks by detecting and addressing hazards before they escalate, contributing to both workplace safety and operational efficiency.
3rd party independent Assurance & Health Incident investigations
We offer independent 3rd part assurance services to review and assess all components of a Site’s occupational hygiene programs. We further offer independent Health Incident Investigation and Expert Opinion services.
Service locations
D’Sayensi Occupational Hygiene services all areas across South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
Our Team
Deon Swanepoel
Occupational Hygiene became more than just a profession for me—it’s my passion. With over a decade of experience, I’ve transformed my career into a commitment to protecting workplace health as a Registered Occupational Hygienist with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene. My expertise lies in data analysis, and hazard control and effectiveness, ensuring that occupational hazard control is not only implemented but continuously optimised. I am driven by the belief that effective hazard control leads to measurable risk reduction and enhanced workplace health and safety.
I recently completed my PhD in Emissions-Based Maintenance at the University of Wollongong, Australia. This achievement has further deepened my commitment to advancing practical, data-driven solutions for workplace health and safety.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of presenting at national and international conferences, as well as serving as a guest speaker on national radio. I have served as the Technical Committee Chairperson at the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene, and actively contribute to shaping the future of the profession. When I’m not working, you can find me engaging in activities that get the heart rate up—whether it’s hiking, running, or simply appreciating nature in all its forms. These pursuits keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of creating safe and healthy environments for everyone.
Thato Tsame
I developed an interest in the field of Occupational Hygiene when I started my Engineering career in the mining industry. I am concerned about the safety, health and well-being of employees and the community at large. I aim to educate and protect people from occupational diseases and disabilities. I formally started my Occupational Hygiene career at D’Sayensi Occupational Hygiene. I am a Registered Occupational Hygiene Assistant with the Southern African Institute for Occupational Hygiene and have an Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control. Outside of work I like exercising, listening to music, watching movies, YouTube and going to church.
